Quality & output limits

Higher quality usually means a larger file. With a size limit, this is the starting quality.

Output: up to 8,192 px per side and 40 megapixels, depending on your browser and available memory. This tool creates one image at a time.

Pixels, compression and formats explained in plain English.

How do I resize a photo to 600 × 600 pixels and under 200 KB?

Choose your photo, set width and height to 600, then choose Crop to fill or Fit inside. Select JPG and enter a maximum of 200 KB. Create the image and check the actual dimensions and file size before downloading. Here, 1 KB means 1,000 bytes. If the limit cannot be met at those dimensions, the tool explains what to change.

What is the difference between pixels and KB?

Pixels describe the width and height of your image. KB describes how much space the saved file takes up. A 600 × 600 photo can have many different file sizes depending on its content, format and compression. This tool checks both separately.

Will resizing or compression reduce quality?

Making an image smaller removes detail. JPG and lossy WebP compression can introduce visible changes; the result preview lets you inspect them. Enlarging an image does not restore missing detail. There is no promise of lossless compression to any requested file size.

Can I keep the whole image without distorting it?

Yes. Keep the aspect ratio locked to resize proportionally, or choose Fit inside for an exact-size canvas with borders. Crop to fill removes part of the image; you choose which part stays. Stretch changes the proportions and is available only when you intentionally choose it.

Which formats and image sizes are supported?

Use a still JPG, PNG or WebP image up to 40 MB and 40 megapixels. Output supports up to 40 megapixels (for example, 8,000 × 5,000) and 8,192 pixels on either side. Your browser and available memory may impose a lower practical limit; large outputs show a reminder but are not automatically reduced. HEIC, RAW, SVG, GIF and animated images are not supported. WebP export also depends on your browser.

Why might a PNG not fit my KB limit?

PNG keeps transparency and uses lossless compression, so a quality slider cannot make it arbitrarily smaller. If a PNG is too large, choose smaller dimensions or try WebP. JPG is another option if you do not need transparency. Dimensions and formats are never silently changed to meet a limit.

Are my photos uploaded or saved by GeMarkt?

No. Photo processing happens in your browser, without sending the photo to GeMarkt or a third-party image service. Closing or clearing the tool removes its working copy. Your original file is unchanged; a download saves a separate file to your device. The tool does not put your file name or image settings into the page URL.

Are metadata, animation and print profiles preserved?

The tool creates a new still image from the decoded pixels. It does not preserve the original EXIF/GPS metadata, animation or print colour profiles. It is for everyday photo preparation, not colour-proofed prepress, DPI metadata editing or a guarantee that an official application will accept your photo.
